Having a complexion that makes you feel confident, whether you’re wearing makeup or not, is a great feeling, but if you’ve got acne scarring, wrinkles or sun damage, it doesn’t feel attainable. Chemical peels could be the answer to all of your problems.

What is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel removes the top layers of skin to reduce the appearance of various imperfections. Chemical peels can treat things like acne scarring, discoloration, dull skin and fine lines. During a consultation at our office, our team of experts can evaluate the condition of your skin and then determine if this type of treatment can benefit you.

What is the Procedure Like?

Chemical peels are non-invasive or minimally-invasive, depending on the strength of the peel. There are no injections, needles or incisions. When you get to our office, our well-trained specialist will cleanse your skin to remove any residual makeup, oil or debris.

Once your skin is cleansed, a special solution is applied to your skin and allowed to sit for about 10 minutes. The length of time will depend on the strength of the peel you’re getting. The solution is wiped off, and our specialist applies a neutralizer and moisturizing barrier to keep your skin hydrated.

You can go right back to work afterwards, but you need to take precautions with sun exposure. After a short recovery, the damaged top layers of skin are removed and new, healthy skin is revealed.

There are three types of peels: light, medium and deep. Deep peels typically require sedation or even anesthesia to keep you comfortable during the procedure. The recovery for deep peels takes the longest; you’ll need to take a break from your regular activities for up to two weeks. Chemical peels have minimal side effects, and the chances of them occurring are rare.
